Astonishingly, the Playhouse Creatures Theatre Company has more than pulled it off. All the players (nine in total) are strong..

Eric Tucker Fleetly directs a nimble cast.."
"..Transports us to a lofty realm of wit and ribaldry.."
--StageMage-BlogCritics -Jon Sobel

Stephen Jeffreys' comedy-drama The Libertine is a delicious throwback to Restoration times. With Cromwellian Puritanism a thing of the past, the return of the monarchy was an optimal time for an omnisexual, charismatic, downright outrageous character like John Wilmot, Second Earl of Rochester, to barrel into the history books.

(I caught the final preview.).. I would definitely recommend the production as an introduction to this ambitious company and as a great opportunity to see Jeffreys's startling, fascinating (albeit raunchy) work on stage...

nytheatre.com review
Lynn Marie Macy · November 7, 2010
The Libertine by Stephen Jeffreys was originally presented by London's Royal Court Theatre in February of 1995 and ran in repertory with George Etherege's The Man Of Mode, the 17th

Playhouse Creatures Theatre Partners Up With Local Organization : Nazareth Housing

August 4, 2010

NY, NY- Playhouse Creatures Theatre Company currently closed a successful run of “Six by Tenn” a production showcasing six rarely produced works of one of America’s greatest writers, Tennessee Williams. The production, which ran from July 8 – 18, 2010 at The Red Room sold out four of its last five performances. Audience feedback of the startup company’s inaugural production was positive and there is much anticipation and excitement for the next production in November of Stephen Jeffreys’ “The Libertine”.

As part of its mission, Playhouse Creatures is committed to partnering up with a local charity and donating a portion of its proceeds to that organization. The creatures feel the urgent need to “give back” to its community.

“We are committed to giving back to the community we produce in,” says Co- Producing Artistic Director Joseph W. Rodriguez. “It is a cornerstone of our mission. Being fortunate enough to be able to pursue our passion, we feel the least we can do is give back a little, raise awareness about a problem, and help to solve them. “

There were many wonderful organizations that do extraordinary work in Manhattan’s lower east side, however the company made its choice on Nazareth Housing. This charity is a local, not-for-profit, non-sectarian organization with a long and proud history of innovation in the field of housing for low-income families. Nazareth Housing is committed to the promotion of housing stability and economic independence among poor families and youth of New York City, through the provision of family shelter, homelessness prevention services, self-sufficiency education, supportive housing and youth programming, and has been doing so since 1983. Nazareth Housing’s vision is to empower individuals and families to overcome barriers to safe and secure housing.

Playhouse Creatures are proud to have partnered with a noble organization that works hard in helping the city’s homeless and lower income families. We are thrilled to present Nazareth House with a check for $500.

The creatures would like to thank all of the patrons and supporters who helped make this donation possible and urge others to contribute to such an extraordinary organization.
